Firewise Community

  • Through considerable efforts on the part of Wild River community members, Wild River achieved recognition as a Firewise Community in 2006. We are proud of this commendation and continue to exert individual and community-wide efforts to ensure our renewed recognition on an annual basis. Most importantly, meeting Firewise standards provides us with the assurance that our community is maintained to the utmost level of fire safety.

Please refer to the link to the Firewise Brochure below to familiarize yourselves with the Firewise Community program, its goals and directives for maintaining a defensible space around your home. You’ll find helpful suggestions for reduction of ignition hazards through construction applications and landscape design, as well as ongoing maintenance tips for minimizing the risks to your home and developing a practical evacuation plan in the event of a threat of wildfire.

  • In the spirit of promoting a comprehensive approach to Firewise safety, we encourage Wild River owners to further their stewardship of the community by promoting safe conditions in our common areas. Please refer to the links below for protocol guidelines and scheduled events. Your conscientious efforts toward common area maintenance are appreciated.

*Please take this opportunity to download and print a personal copy of the Firewise Tracking Form. Your participation in keeping this form updated will aid the Firewise Community Coordinator to compile and submit the annual Firewise Community application form in the Fall of each year.

  • The Deschutes County Emergency alert system can be used to notify the public with important information during an emergency. Emergencies happen with little or no notice at any time of the day or night. With DAS, critical information is relayed to you about natural disasters or other emergencies that require your immediate attention.

To enroll in the DAS program, please copy and paste the following URL into your browser, review the information and follow the prompts:
